Plastic film is usually supplied in reels but also in flat sheet form. The top side of the pallet load is protected with a wooden grating thus the pallet becomes stackable. The reels are placed on the pallet either in stand-up or lying position, forming one or more layers. Reels in a lying position are anchored on the pallet with 4 straps, 2 straps each crosswise. Polyester strapping has replaced the former steel strapping.
If the reels are placed in stand-up position strapping is also appropriate. The straps hold pallet and load together. The necessary lateral holding power is achieved by stretchwrapping. The pallet load weighs between 500 and 1000 kg.
