Paving blocks are transported to the construction site as a unit load, either with or without pallets. If pallets are used, less strapping is necessary to stabilise the unit load. If the blocks are unitised without a pallet two conditions must be fulfilled in order to ensure that the vertical straps are not damaged:First of all the lowest layer of the stack is gripped by the clamp of the lifting equipment, i.e. no so-called short clamp must be used. Secondly it must be guaranteed that the packages are not pushed through on the vehicle, i.e. the vehicles should be loaded from both sides.
