The pallet load is unusually high. It consists of more than 1000 cans. That makes it particularly sensitive to abrupt movement. Hard fibre or plastic boards separate the layers of cans. A frame is positioned on top of the load which distributes the pressure evenly.
Strappers for empty cans usually have a pressure device above the load, which fixes and compresses during the first strapping operation. Uneven boards are straightened. Cross strapping requires a change of direction or the load must be turned 90°, this means either the machine has to be equipped with a rotating cross or a second machine is needed for the second strap.
The straps are applied at a high tension. It depends on the straps as to whether the high pressure is preserved in the long run. Polyester has been proven to be ideal due to it’s outstanding breaking strength and elasticity, particularly long term.
